HIKMICRO Pocket2: a powerful thermal imaging camera in a useful and compact format

Aug 11, 2022

The new Pocket2 from HIKMICRO is the ideal thermal imaging camera for equipping a full maintenance team: It is small and useful, but also has a robust design for tough working conditions on construction sites.

1st. June 2022 The compact, powerful Pocket2 thermal imaging camera from HIKMICRO is suitable for electrical inspections as well as for the construction, SHK and HLK sectors. It has a high-resolution 256x192 pixel Vox detector with a fixed focus (field of view 50° × 37.2°, H x V). The Pocket2 is also equipped with an optical 8 mega-pixel camera and an LED light alongside the infra-red detector. Users can work quickly and efficiently with the 3.5 inch touch-screen and the intuitive menu.

Quick, efficient work

Inspectors can identify potential errors quickly and efficiently with the Pocket2. The thermal images and corresponding visual images are saved as radiometric JPEGs for documentation in the internal 16 GB memory at the touch of a button. The results can then be readily shared via WiFi and the HIKMICRO Viewer app. On-site reporting and analysis in real time speeds up the reaction time for repairs, reduces potential costs resulting from downtime and ensure safe operations.

Thanks to the video recording function and 4x zoom, inspectors don't miss any anomalies and can rely on measurements to be accurate. Measurement accuracy is +/- 2% or 2 °C across the whole temperature range from -20 °C to 400 °C with a good NETD < 40 mK (at 25 °C). Its relatively high refresh rate of 25 Hz always ensures a clear image without judder (in contrast to 9 Hz, which is often the case with simpler thermal imaging cameras, which make inspections more demanding and arduous). The Pocket2 is therefore idea for servicing and maintenance programs for monitoring electrical and mechanical devices - and should be cost-effective enough to ensure that every member of a maintenance team has their own device.

The camera supports four different image modes: Thermal image, fusion, picture-in-picture and optical mode (real image). Seven different colour palettes are available for displaying thermal images, namely black hot, white hot, red hot, rainbow, iron, fusion, and rain. Acoustic and optical alarms can also be set in the camera. The internal loudspeaker and LED warn when pre-set temperatures are exceeded. The Pocket2 comes with protection class IP54 (protection against water and dust), has a robust, durable design and is completely suitable for industrial use. The camera easily withstands a drop test from a height of two metres. HIKMICRO grants a three-year warranty on the camera itself and a 10-year warranty on the detector.

How to Find a Water Leak Using a Thermal Imaging Tool
Water leaks of any size can lead to big problems, including damage to finishes, structural issues and health hazards. Contractors, builders and remodelers all know that finding a water leak can add up to countless hours of trial and error that deplete client confidence. However, with the right tools, water leaks can be tamed.

Common Water-Leak Sources

Water leaks can occur at any stage of construction. They can be a result of damage, deterioration or improper installation of building-envelope components, like windows and doors. Water leaks can also be caused by plumbing issues or thermal variances that create condensation or ponding.
