Hunting has taken me across the world, from the sharp ridges of New Zealand to the open prairies of Montana, to the diverse habitats in Argentina. Each place has challenged me in different ways, and every trip has taught me something new about exploration, wildlife, and the importance of reliable gear.
New Zealand – The Mountains
There are moments in New Zealand where you stop, breathe the cold air, and feel like you can’t go any further, but only pushing on can get you closer to the game. Hunting tahr and red stags in the Southern Alps is pure adventure: steep climbs, fast-changing weather, and terrain that forces you to earn every meter.
What I learned in those mountains is that nature doesn’t care how experienced you think you are. The animals know the terrain far better, and the mountains have no mercy. Only skill, preparation, and reliable gear give you a chance to succeed.
Montana – Wide-Open Country
Montana feels endless. Hunting antelope there taught me patience and stealth more than anything else. You spend hours gazing out at open landscapes, searching for the slightest movement in the sage. Once you find the antelope, the real challenge begins in getting close to them without being seen in this open landscape.
The lesson from Montana is simple: in open country, good stalking in the open country is a skill—and good gear multiplies your ability to use it.
Argentina – Where Culture Meets Adventure
Argentina brought a different kind of exploration. The landscapes shift from the pampas to Patagonia, to the park-like landscapes in the north. Hunting there is not just about the animal; it’s also about the people, the traditions, and the connection between land and lifestyle.
The most important thing was being able to react quickly. The Axis deer were moving quickly through the landscape, making it a good challenge to identify them and get a clean shot.
Why These Trips Matter
Across all these hunts, the common theme is exploration. Not just of landscapes, but of abilities, limits, and experiences. Every trip offered new insights into different animals, varied terrain, how weather influences decisions, and how preparation affects success. I love seeing new places and learning from them.
