Hangzhou Microimage Software Co., Ltd. and their affiliates ("HIKMICRO", “we”, “ours” or “us”) are committed to protecting the privacy, confidentiality and security of your personal information by complying with applicable laws, and we are equally committed to ensuring that all our employees and agents uphold these obligations.

This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use and handle your personal information when you use our HIKMICRO Meter application and its services (the “Services”). It also applies to any personal information we collect from the operation and use of the HIKMICRO Products (the “Products”) while connected to this application. In event that we collect your personal information through the Services, we, as the data controller of your personal information, will do our best to protect your personal information and we promise that we will take appropriate security measures in accordance with the industry mature security standards. The Services require access to device permissions solely to enable connectivity with your HIKMICRO hardware products. All data processing occurs locally on your device and we do not collect and process your personal information through the Services.

This Privacy Policy does not apply to personal information collected by us offline or through any other means not involved in this Policy, or to personal information collected by any third party.

IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THIS POLICY, PLEASE DO NOT USE THE SERVICES. We reserve the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time, so we encourage you to review it frequently. If we make a material change to this Privacy Policy, we will notify you by email or by means of a notice via push notifications within the mobile application prior to the changes taking effect, in accordance with any applicable legal obligations. Your continued use of the Services signifies your acceptance of our modified Privacy Policy. We regularly update the mobile application to make improvements, including improvements that better serve your privacy rights. To ensure that this Privacy Policy accurately reflects your use of the Services you will need to ensure that you are using the most recent release of the mobile application.

1. Information We Collect from You

To provide the Services, the app requires certain device permissions (e.g., location, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi) for connecting and operating your hardware products. While these permissions may involve processing personal data (e.g., location data) locally on your device, we do not collect, store, or transmit any personal information from you. Refusing permissions may limit Services functionality.

• Products Information. To better managing your Products, when you connect your Products to the Services, the Services may record your products information on your device, including your Product’s type, firmware version and serial number. However, we don’t collect or store your products information. See your device user manuals for further details.
• Location Information. When you activate and connect your Products to the Services, you may be required to enable certain features of your device (such as GPS, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth) to identify your location. However, we don’t collect or store your geographic location. See your device user manuals for further details.
• Cookies and other technologies. Cookies are used to collect information, including personal data, from you. Cookies are small files which, when placed on your device, enable us to provide certain features and functionality. Please note that, we don’t use cookies and other similar technologies (e.g. pixels etc.) on the Services.

2. How We Use Your Information

Generally, HIKMICRO does not collect and process your personal information through the Services. The Services use the accessed permissions exclusively for the following purposes:

• To enable the operation and connectivity of your hardware products through the App.
• All data processing occurs locally on your device. No personal information is sent to our servers or used for analytics, marketing, or any other purposes.

Our legal bases for processing your information as described in this Privacy Policy are as follows:

• Where we use of your information is necessary to perform our obligations under a contract or commitment to you. For example, to provide the services you’ve requested from us, or to comply with our terms of service.
• Where we use of your information furthers our legitimate interests or the legitimate interests of others. For example, to provide security for the Services, operate our business and the Services, make and receive payments, defend our legal rights, and prevent fraud.
• Where we use your information to comply with applicable legal obligations. For example, keeping track of purchases or subscriptions for tax and auditing purposes.
• Where you have consented to our processing of your information for a particular purpose.

For the purposes discussed in this Privacy Policy, we may combine the information that we collect through the Services with information that we receive from other sources, both online and offline, and use such combined information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We do not sell any personal information to third parties and we never will.

Generally, HIKMICRO does not collect and process your personal information through the Services. But in some specific scenarios, especially when required by law or for the purpose of the protection of HIKMICRO and others, we may disclose your information.

Security of your information. 

Your personal information is processed locally on your device. We do not store or transmit it, so no additional security measures are applied on our end.

Retention of your information. 

We do not retain any personal data. Permission-based data exists only temporarily during your use of the Services.

Transfer of Personal Information Outside of Your Jurisdiction

We do not collect and transmit your personal information.

5. Your Rights

If you are located in the European Economic Area, as regulated by General Data Protection Regulation (the “GDPR”), you have the right to access, rectify, erase, or restrict processing of your personal data. Since we do not collect or store your data on our servers, these rights primarily apply to data locally processed on your device. You can exercise rights by adjusting device settings or contacting us for inquries.

6. Children’s Privacy

We do not intend that any portion of the Services will be accessed or used by children under the age of 18, or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction and such use is prohibited. Our Services are designed and intended for adults. If we obtain actual knowledge that a user who is under the age of 18 years old, or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction, we will promptly delete the information. If you are a parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction and believe he or she has disclosed personal information to us, please contact us by email at support@hikmicrotech.com. A parent or guardian of a child under the age of 18, or equivalent minimum age in the relevant jurisdiction may review and request deletion of such child’s personal information as well as prohibit the use thereof.

From time to time we may change or update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in the law, our data collection and use practices, the features of our Services, or advances in technology. You should review the Privacy Policy periodically, and you can know if the Privacy Policy has changed since the last time you reviewed it by checking the “Effective Date” at the beginning of the document. By continuing to use the Services, you are confirming that you have read and understood the latest version of this Privacy Policy.
